As part of the industry week, young Burgiens were able to discover this vast universe a little closer.

Charming young people, that’s the main goal of the operation “AinDustrie, CKOI? » organized by the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Entreprises agency as part of Industry Week. “We started from the observation with the companies, of the difficulties of recruitment in this sector. Also, the idea is to attract young people or, at least, to make them aware of these professions. We have set up a joint action with the guidance agency, financed like us by the region explains Thomas Colombari, head of the Ain branch of Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Entreprises. To do this, the two organizations took up residence on 22 November in the Vinaigrerie car park, in partnership with the City, one under the stands, the other in the famous orientation bus and its presentations of professions in virtual reality.

“The partnership between the two agencies is essential, if one makes the link between the school and the company, the other is connoisseur of the local economic fabric. This makes it possible to introduce young people to the diversity of sectors in Ain, plastics processing, logistics, etc., of which they are not necessarily aware. We want to show them that they use everyday objects potentially produced 10 kilometers from their homes. They can observe universes that they would not have the opportunity to encounter in their course or to discover with their families”, says Stéphanie Pernod Beaudon, first vice-president of the Aura Region, in charge of the economy, relocation and regional preference.

Behind the scenes

Some 180 college and high school students from Burgian establishments were able to parade on the stands. An opportunity for them to discover the association Le Plastik se recycle, its ephemeral factory and thus the whole cycle of recycling, its interest and its operation. Right next door, Hyléance and TMP Convert were able to present their production sites to them through videos. The mechanical pole was not forgotten, with the presence of Radior and Mecabourg. A set that did not fail to interest the students. “If it’s not a sector that interests me, it’s enriching to discover behind the scenes of these professions that surround us. Being able to explore them, by having the figures, by meeting the right interlocutors, passionate about their field, that brings a lot”, rejoices Antoine, a student in F2O, a transitional class between third and second, in Carriat.

On the business side too, action is important. “A day like this allows us to promote our professions and pass on our values, while bringing young people into the world of industry. By presenting our Radior bike, we show them that the manufacture of a product that they use every day mobilizes a lot of different positions, nearly thirty. They can see that within the companies of the Bourg-en-Bresse basin, in particular among the members of Mécabourg, it is possible to flourish and manufacture a finished product, all at levels ranging from CAP to engineer. Today, we need well-trained talents, with a high level of skill. We are in jobs that are less and less manual and more and more robotic, so you have to be able to design, program, etc. All of this requires qualified personnel,”develops Christophe Subtil, Managing Director at Radior.

In parallel with this event, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Entreprises and Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes Orientation, in association with the Régie des Transports de l’Ain, took students from the Paul Claudel de Lagnieu middle school to discover the Georg Utz company in Saint-Vulbas, November 29.
