Meta launches a metaverse academy in France

In search of an ecosystem to take advantage of a market that promises to be lucrative, Meta announces the launch of a metaverse academy. This will see the light of day in partnership with the network of free digital schools

Meta continues to lay its bricks to build its metaverse. It must be said that with more than $13 billion in losses in just 15 months for its division dedicated to virtual reality and the metaverse, Facebook’s parent company can hardly go back. Consequently, the American group wants to constitute an entire ecosystem allowing it to promote the emergence of this parallel world, considered the “future of the Internet”.

This notably involves training in new professions related to this field. In this context, the Californian firm announces the launch of a metaverse academy, created in partnership with the network of free digital schools This initiative aims to offer free training dedicated to the metaverse and immersive technologies from the start of the 2022 academic year in Paris, Marseille, Lyon and Nice. “The objective will be to train around twenty students per city and per class, or around a hundred people in total for the first pilot year. Other cities and training courses may follow”says Meta.

The course, accessible without a diploma, is divided into two phases. The first, lasting three to six months, will enable learners to benefit from an intensive individual training session, before being placed on a work-study program in partner companies for 12 to 18 months. Initially, the program will focus on providing skills for two professions: designer-developer specializing in immersive technologies (virtual, augmented and mixed reality) and support-assistance technician for equipment maintenance.

According to the firm Grand View Research, the metaverse market could weigh 678 billion dollars by 2030.
