Many people have heard of the metaverse, but few can accurately describe it. Do you have a simple explanation?
Everyone has a slightly different definition. At Accenture, we say the metaverse is the next generation of the Internet, which will be much more immersive. Today, users go to the Internet via a website. The experience is in 2D. Tomorrow you will not look at the Internet, but be part of it. The user will be completely immersed in a multisensory experience in which he will act as in the real world, but virtually.

However, the on / off effect is not yet relevant, in other words, it is not enough to press a button to find yourself in the metaverse. This universe was built and continues to evolve through the combination of a set of technologies that progress over time, such as AI, virtual reality, augmented reality, blockchain, cloud, and many others. Again. However, certain conditions must be met for this technology to work. The first: you need good bandwidth. The second is that enough computer power is needed to fabricate the data needed for this environment. The third condition is the availability of devices such as virtual reality headsets or connected objects that will accelerate the fusion of the two worlds, physical and digital. Moreover, two objects connected to each other, for example a bottle and a refrigerator, will form on their own a certain form of metaverse in which we can participate. It is a mistake to think that it is mandatory to wear a virtual reality helmet to enter this universe. The evolution will be gradual along a kind of “continuum”. First, technologies will advance to evolve metaverses, then experiences will evolve from physical environments to fully virtual universes; finally, the use of this technology […]
