A stunning experience
To achieve this, the latter immortalized the 12th century building from every angle using a 3D camera that he positioned in several places on the site. A large-scale work, which allowed him to create this visit not quite like the others. “The objective is to make people want to go and visit it on site,” insists this author photographer, specializing in the creation of virtual spaces.
And if the visit is also available on screen, directly from a phone or smartphone, it can therefore also be done with a helmet on the eyes this Saturday, May 14 at Arcade VR in Lescar. From 6 p.m. to 11 p.m., this show specializing in virtual reality offers free testing of this visit during Museum Night.
“It’s out of the usual framework, but it allows us to show the many possibilities of virtual reality”, underline together Pierre Tutak and Anaïs Vasseur, both associated with the head of Arcade VR. Well seated on a small stool, it is with the gaze that one moves within the building. The result is stunning and you can take the priest’s place behind the altar as well as visit the treasure room. Every detail has been captured and it is a thrilling experience to walk through the building.
When a tree root lifts the floor of Lescar Cathedral
An old root from a tree felled a while ago has lifted the tiles of the nave of the cathedral of Lescar in recent months. After removing the tile, the root could be removed and the tile reinstalled. The building will also undergo major roofing work in the coming months. A sum of 800,000 euros has thus been budgeted by Lescar for this. Work should start shortly.
In addition to this visit, Arcade VR will also offer four other such experiences. For example, the public will be able to discover the Chauvet cave or even Notre-Dame-de-Paris in medieval times. It will also be possible to enjoy a virtual museum with different works or even the “Dreams of Dali” experience, which takes you squarely into a work by the Spanish painter.
So many proposals that make up the DNA of Arcade VR. Opened in 2019 at 160 boulevard de l’Europe in Lescar, the room offers eight pods – spaces with a VR headset -, two car simulators and one on the third to fly an airplane on Flight Simulator. The experiences offered are multiple, and can be practiced both alone and in multiplayer.
Enough to gain the trust of visitors over time. “The hardest part at the beginning was getting known, but the people who come come back,” says Anaïs Vasseur. A diverse and varied audience, with an average age of between 25 and 45 years old. “We come here as we would go to bowling or to the cinema”, continues Pierre Tutak.
Arcade VR, 160 boulevard de l’Europe, Saturday May 14 from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. Free. Reservation recommended with the hall. Only from 11 years old.
