According to the latest nPerf barometer study, Orange tops mobile internet connections in 2021 in the Antilles-Guyana, despite a slowdown in the general performance of the main telephone operators.
Based on tests carried out by users of the nPerf mobile application in the Antilles-Guyana in 2021, the nPerf company has just published its latest study on “mobile internet in French Guiana and the Antilles”.
Overall, the barometer notes “a context of slowing performance, in 2021, in Guadeloupe, Martinique and Guyana. The speeds stagnate or drop, the response time deteriorates and the quality of experience in browsing and streaming declines”.
According to nPerf, in this landscape, Orange “clearly stands out”, maintaining or increasing its comfortable lead over its competitors, except perhaps in Martinique.

“Awaiting the arrival of 5G, or more pronounced use of 4G+ technology in these territories, all the main indicators give the advantage to Orange, and the horizon does not seem to be darkening for the year 2022: SFR remains its first challenger, and Digicel is holding back with performances and developments well below average expectations”.
Apart from the success rate, awarded to SFR Caraïbe, and web browsing, won on a par with the latter, the heir to France Telecom shows superiority in almost all aspects, and establishes its domination on the mobile Internet. Martinican, notes nPerf.
Like Guadeloupe, general performance is down on the island’s three main networks this year, SFR remains second in the nPerf ranking, and Digicel is collapsing by giving up more than 16,000 points.
Orange subscribers benefited from the best average download speed (70.50 Mb/s) in 2021. Orange erases all competition on this statistic, since it is almost twice that of its closest pursuer, SFR Caraïbe.
Winner on all the main indicators, Orange repeats its victory in Guadeloupe, while slightly lowering its performance.
Indeed, all operators lose points in the nPerf score in 2021, but Orange better contains this drop by giving up 7,000 points, compared to SFR’s 11,500 and Digicel’s 15,500. SFR Caraïbe remains in second position, winning despite everything, as usual, the 4G connection rate.
Digicel falls sharply and is placed offside, under 40,000 points.
Orange subscribers benefited from the best average download speed (54.31 Mb/s) in 2021.
The phenomenon is repeated in French Guiana. For the third year in a row, Orange ends up victorious, in the lead on all the statistics studied with the exception of latency, which is more satisfactory at SFR, note nPerf.
Like the Caribbean islands, average latency, web browsing and YouTube streaming in Guyana have generally declined. On the other hand, thanks to SFR, the average speed is increasing significantly in this territory. The latter is still on the second step of the podium (it also shares the best 4G connection rate with Orange), and Digicel here too gives up more than 11,000 points to complete any hope of catching up.
Orange subscribers benefited from the best average downlink speed (48.45 Mb/s) in 2021. Despite a very discreet annual increase (+0.7 Mb/s), third consecutive victory for Orange, which is 18 Mb/s ahead of its competitor SFR.
Thus, during the year 2021, Internet users from Guadeloupe carried out 18,918 nPerf tests there, those from Martinique 21,236 and those from French Guiana 8,621.
nPerf tests include throughput, browsing, and streaming tests. All this allows nPerf to provide a study based on a panel among the widest of these overseas departments and territories.
