Launch of the new website of the fishing port of Lorient

Located in the heart of the largest fishing region in Europe, Lorient-Keroman is an exemplary port which has always been able to evolve and mobilize the port community around the challenges of the sector and show the way to sustainable economic development.

At the heart of this ecosystem, all the players share the same interests: the economic actors of coastal fishing, deep-sea fishing but also wholesalers, processors, personnel of SEM Lorient-Keroman, transporters, the world of research, fishmongers, mass distribution and the ship repair.

This Wednesday, May 18, the fishing port of Lorient Keroman is putting its new website online for the benefit of maritime professionals and the general public: www.keroman.fr

Based on the technical structure of the Lorient Agglomeration website, of which it is a variation, the new website of the fishing port benefits from ergonomics and a design adapted to technical standards and current uses of the web, in particular for optimized consultation on mobile and tablet.

For Fabrice LoherPresident of Lorient Agglomeration and Mayor of Lorient

“The port of Lorient Keroman is an essential ecosystem for the life and economic development of Lorient Agglomeration. It brings together all the trades in the fishing sector as well as research and training centres. Lorient Agglomeration wishes to build the port of tomorrow through numerous investments in the modernization of infrastructures and in innovation. This transformation of Lorient-Keroman must be accompanied by the deployment of current and interactive digital communication tools. The new website will allow as many people as possible to discover and learn about the many activities of France’s leading auction”.

Thanks to a larger font, the readability of the site is facilitated. Similarly, with clear and uncluttered graphics, the published content (texts, photos, videos, etc.) is enhanced and contributes to creating the identity of the site in the image of the fishing port, its sectors, its actors and the territory of Lorient Agglomeration. News is published every week and a newsletter “Les Nouvelles de Keroman” is sent every 15 days to a file of more than 1,000 contacts (Newsletter subscription directly from the site).

The fishing port and Lorient Agglomeration teams work hand in hand to design and produce this content with the aim of promoting the attractiveness of the port and of interest to both professionals, but also the general public, inhabitants of the Pays de Lorient and visitors.

“The new version of the website contributes to the modernization of the IT infrastructure of the Lorient-Keroman fishing port. While it allows the general public to be informed, it is an essential tool for professionals to access remote purchases, consult purchases and sales and find out about forecasts of contributions »

precise Olivier Le Nezetpresident of the Lorient-Keroman fishing port.

On the menu : the life of the fishing port, companies, port actors, the naval repair area, the announcement of maritime events, an “Educational Space” on fishing techniques, the auction, seasonal fish, or even cooking recipes… and many other contents to discover!

It is also an opportunity for the fishing port teams to publish specific content such as job advertisements in the “Recruitment” area or announcements on land availability.

Some numbers

After a very good vintage in 2019 and a year 2020 strongly impacted by the health crisis, 2021 will have enabled the port of Lorient Keroman to regain a sustained pace of activity. 19,335 tons of fish were sold under port control last year, for a turnover of 71.8 million euros. If we only add up the products sold at auction, Lorient remains France’s leading fish market in terms of value.

Last year again, Norway lobster generated the largest turnover with 11.8 million euros, while hake is in the lead in terms of volume, ahead of julienne and sling. Coastal fishing shows an increase of 16% with a turnover of 32.3 million euros. The port continues its international opening with the landing and sale of fish caught by European vessels.
