Kaleidoscope : here is the name of the unexpected new series promised by Netflix for next January 1st. The narrative framework is freely inspired by real events dating back to the 1970s. During Hurricane Sandy, no less than 70 billion dollars had indeed disappeared in the middle of New York, in Manhattan. In the heist series, viewers can follow a team of professional thieves, who try to break into a safe known to be impenetrable, unbreakable. The characters thus hope to recover the biggest jackpot in the history of robberies. Will they achieve it? Available from January 1, this innovative program from Netflix offers a completely immersive streaming experience never seen before. While waiting to discover the complete series, you can already take a look at the trailer, below:
More than a series, an immersive experience
The platform at N rouge has decided to embark on a concept reminiscent of that of the Kaleidoscope. As a reminder, a kaleidoscope, as recalled Futura Science, is a toy in the shape of a tube allowing you to observe colored geometric shapes reflecting to infinity. It comes from the Greek words kalosmeaning “beautiful”, eidos “picture” and skopein, the verb “watch”. For its new burglary series, Netflix has taken up, in a way, the principle of this object, for a pluriangular vision. Spanning more than 25 years, the eight episodes of the series can thus be watched in any order. If there is a chronological order all the same –Yellow: 6 Weeks Before The Heist, Green: 7 Years Before the Heist, Blue: 5 Days Before the Heist, Purple: 24 Years Before the Heist, Orange: 3 Weeks Before the Heist, Red: The Morning After the Heist, Pink: 6 Months After, White: The Heist – the episodes are however not numbered, but signified by colors. To help us see more clearly, Netflix has released a video in which the creators of the series explain where they came up with the idea to create such an immersive experience. Discover the origin of this unique project:
In fact, the eight episodes are temporally between 24 years after the robbery and six months later. If it is highly recommended by Netflix to watch an introduction named Black before starting the series, each subscriber will have a different experience for the entire video playback. All episodes, except one, will be offered in random playback. The final episode will automatically be scheduled to be viewed last. To enjoy a unique streaming viewing experience, don’t miss Kaleidoscope on Netflix, January 1, 2023.
