iPhone: how to track your flight from Messages

The holidays are approaching, and with it the impatience of travel and rest, but also the stress of departure. However, with the advent of smartphones, there are more and more facilities for preparing trips. For example, did you know that from the Messages application on your iPhone, it was possible to easily consult your flight information? Manual.

It seems a long time ago when a trip by train, plane, boat or airship only required a printed ticket, paper version, which it was therefore better not to misplace, tear or burn. From now on, the vast majority of our reservations are made online, and no longer really materialize. Increasingly, to access boarding or in the event of a check, all you have to do is present an e-ticket, appearing in the form of a barcode or QR code, via an application, or after having downloaded it. “You can not stop progress”, as your grandparents must have told you one day. And they were right. Especially when it comes to travel. Because with a simple gesture in Messages, the same application used to send SMS from your iPhone, you can have access to all the information for your next flight…

Apple’s little gem, the iPhone, has so many features that every time you discover one, it feels like you’ve uncovered a real little secret. And the Message application is no exception, allowing for example to use effects to animate your SMS, or rather your iMessages, as we say when you have a smartphone flocked with the bitten apple logo. Among the many tips available via iOS, here is one that might be of particular interest to you as you approach your departure on vacation. Because all the information about your next flight can be viewed from Messages on your iPhone, allowing you to share it with your loved ones. This can be useful for sharing information with the people you are traveling with, or reassuring your mother on your way to Iceland in the middle of a snowstorm. Here’s how:

  • Meet in the Messages app on your iPhone.
  • Select the contact(s) with whom you wish to share your flight information.
  • Write the name of the airline, followed by the flight number (example: Air France T603321).

The number of a flight can be the one used by default on the same line, if you consult this information several days before your departure, you may have to browse several pages (by sliding to the right) before finding yours. It is recommended to wait 24 hours before your departure to have direct access to your information.

In any case, you now know how to access all your information in one click, without having to go to the company’s website. But as Nagui would say: “Don’t forget your toothbrush”. For now, there is no hidden feature of the iPhone to replace it. But we will keep looking…
