In Carnac, the five- and three-star mobile home for holidays

When it happens in a mobile home, a stay at the campsite is no longer synonymous with tap showers or collective washing up. No need to cross the ground with your roll of toilet paper under your arm, or to wait for the end of the shower to brush your teeth. The mobile home offers all the modern comforts of hotel accommodation “where the lawn replaces the carpet in the corridors”, describes Méryl Szpak, director of the five-star La Grande Métairie campsite in Carnac.

A stone’s throw from the alignments, what should be called an open-air hotel complex, has 582 pitches over 17 hectares: with two entrances, one towards the menhirs, the other towards the beach. 450 mobile homes include a living room, two bedrooms and bathrooms. The most equipped have a dishwasher and a reversible air conditioner. For the ultimate, a spa completes the layout of the terrace with barbecue and plancha. An outdoor shower also makes life easier for summer visitors.

€3,000 per week of “glamping”

“At the height of the season, at the end of July and the beginning of August, accommodation of this type is rented for €3,000 a week. At €120 per night, in low season, the same costs €850 for a week,” says Méryl Szpak. “Here, people come on vacation with their families. They know that we offer a daily entertainment program for all profiles, children, teenagers and adults. They combine tranquility on their site with the fun side of a club where they find two restaurants, an aquatic area with four pools, a mini golf course, a skate park, two tennis courts, a tree climbing course. “We are no longer in popular camping. Today we talk about “glamping”, glamorous camping”, explains the director.

Lasting comfort with the benefit of nature

Denis Garcia, owner of the three-star Lac campsite in Carnac, also relies on the comfort of the mobile home. In the middle of greenery, at the end of the dead end that leads to the confines of the Crac’h river, the professional responds to the desires of his customers to return to nature. “People who come here are not looking for entertainment, but are ready to pay for the comfort and quality of accommodation. To best answer it, what I’m looking for today are mobile homes that are no longer built in plastic or metal, but more in wood, with good insulation. More durable and therefore more comfortable designs that fit better into their surroundings.”

No animation, no slide

At Camping du Lac, seven accommodations of this type have a view of the lake, with a semi-sheltered wooden terrace. Here too the dishwasher is required, as well as the reverse heat pump. On the other hand, no entertainment and no toboggan, but a swimming pool and the lake which stretches out its arms for kayaking, in peace.

For a latest-generation mobile home, count €1,000 per week at the beginning of August, for four, when a more classic pitch is worth €550 at the same time.
