Like many Chinese manufacturers, launches are done in several stages at Vivo: a launch for the Chinese market, then launches in other regions of the world, where the products can be declined in several variants with name changes. Vivo has just unveiled its latest premium smartphones: the Chinese brand has anticipated some of the innovations to come.

In total, we thus discover two smartphones: the X80 and X80 Pro.

The main novelty of the X80 is a new high-end CMOS sensor from Sony, namely theIMX866. It’s a large sensor, 1/1.5″, but only slightly larger than the one seen on the previous generation IMX766 (which was 1/1.56″). The definition has not yet been specified, the lens is here with seven elements and benefits from a Zeiss anti-reflective treatment.

The Pro version is differentiated by a main sensor designed by Samsung. This is the sensor Samsung Isocell CNG of 50 megapixels 1/1.3 inch with a lens at f/1.57, with the famous stabilization system (gimbal) that we know about the X60 Pro. In addition to this main sensor, there are 3 others: a 48 megapixel IMX598 sensor (ultra wide-angle f / 2.2), a 12 Mpx telephoto lens (f / 1.9) as well as a periscopic module (f / 3.4) which offers an optical zoom x5. We also find the same Zeiss anti-reflective treatment.

Vivo has put forward its new in-house V1 Plus chip: it is a chip dedicated to the image which exploits a new set of algorithms specially developed for Sony and Samsung sensors.
