Sosh international package: still as good from abroad?

The non-binding subsidiary Sosh offers alternative mobile plans to Orange, all with the same network… and above all much more attractive rates. Still, the out-of-package can be very expensive in destinations not included. Does Sosh do better than Orange in this regard?

The arrival of Free Mobile on the telecom market in 2012 completely upset the established order. But the three incumbent operators Orange, SFR and Bouygues anticipated the disruptive effect of Free Mobile, and they all launched a brand or subsidiary dedicated to cheaper non-binding packages sold exclusively on the internet.

At SFR, it goes through the MNVO Red by SFR, at Bouygues, there is the B&You brand. And at Orange, there is Sosh. Beyond the tongue-twisting side of the name chosen by Orange, the MNVO Sosh offers a range of low-cost offers that target the young connected generation, in other words the digital natives.

Sosh subscribers all go through the Orange network, which necessarily maintains very close ties with the brand. It is therefore not surprising that many aspects of the offer resembles that of Orangeparticularly on the issue of sosh international package.

How to use the Sosh international package?

Apart from the limited series, all Sosh packages offer the use of calls, SMS/MMS and data included in the package from Europe, Switzerland and Andorra. Traveling in Europe therefore does not generate any out-of-package. However, you should know that calls, SMS / MMS from France to Europe are not included in any Sosh package (and therefore go outside the package).

Similarly, in destinations not included, you have to be prepared for a lot of out-of-package. Sosh nevertheless offers a fairly generous Evasion Pass for certain countries.

Evasion pass

Like Orange, Sosh offers passes allowing you to use your smartphone (at least a little) from destinations not included. The Pass Evasion 1 (€29) is available in two formulas to choose from: either 2h + 50 SMS, or 10 GB + 30 min + 50 SMS. It is valid for 31 consecutive days and can be activated after purchase on the date of your choice. The Pass Evasion 1 is available in the following 60 destinations:

  • South Africa, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, Armenia, Australia, Benin, Bosnia, Botswana, Brazil, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Central African Republic, Chile, China, Congo, South Korea, Ivory Coast, Egypt, United Arab Emirates, Gabon , Ghana, Guinea, Guinea Bissau, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Israel, Japan, Jordan, Kenya, Kosovo, Kuwait, Liberia, Macao, Madagascar, Malaysia, Mali, Morocco, Mauritius, Mexico, Moldova, Montenegro, Mozambique, Niger , Nigeria, New Zealand, Uganda, Peru, Qatar, Democratic Republic of Congo, Russia, Senegal, Serbia, Sierra Leone, Singapore, Taiwan, Tanzania, Chad, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey, Ukraine, Vietnam

Offered at the same price, the Pass Evasion 2 concerns 16 countries where the out-of-package is normally even more expensive. It is still offered at €29, and the customer can opt for the 5 Go + 50 SMS + 20 min or 2h + 50 SMS formula:

  • Albania, Argentina, Bahrain, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Ecuador, French Polynesia, Guatemala, Honduras, Iraq, Nicaragua, Oman, Panama, Dominican Republic, Uruguay

Alongside these two passes, let’s also mention the USA/Canada Internet Pass 10 GB 31 days at €29 and the USA/Canada Pass 1 hour + unlimited SMS 31 days at €12.

How much does it cost to use data outside the bundle?

Unsurprisingly, out-of-bundle data is as expensive at Sosh as at Orange. From the Maghreb zone, Turkey, USA, Canada and the rest of the world, get ready to have to pay €13.31 per MB of data (or €13,310 per gigabyte).

Note, however, that the rates are fixed for sending SMS (0.28 € per unit), MMS (1.10 € per unit) and that receiving SMS and MMS is free in all cases.

How can I check the price of the voice and data package excluding the destinations not included?

You can consult the latest applicable rates in the brochure Prices of the Sosh offer.

Can I block a Sosh package internationally to avoid the out-of-package?

Only the 2h + 100 MB package is available in a blocked version (which is then totally incompatible with use from destinations not included). For the other packages, please note: there is no blocking, except the one that you can activate on your smartphone.

To do this, simply deactivate the roaming / roaming / data from abroad option on your iPhone or Android smartphone by navigating to the settings.

How to contact Sosh, voicemail and your contacts from abroad?

These numbers will be very useful to you:

  • Sosh Customer Service: +33 969 39 3900
  • Make a call to France: modify the number of your contacts to make them start with +33 instead of the first 0

Conclusion: Is the international Sosh package worth it?

A priori Sosh is far from being the best operator for international markets beyond the Europe and overseas departments. But the Pass Evasion still makes up for it in more than 110 destinations, giving access for 31 days to 10 GB of mobile data (5 GB in 16 countries). Which is much more than at SFR, for example.

Obviously if you want to refrain from buying a Pass in addition to your subscription, few alternatives are really available. However, for the general public, we can cite the Free 5G 210 GB package which allows you to use without additional cost or additional subscription 25 GB of data from a total of 70 countries and territories.
