Apex Legends Mobile will not be Top 1

After comfortably installing Apex Legends on PC and consoles, Electronic Arts proudly announced on May 11 that Apex Legends Mobile will land on our territory in less than a short week, May 17, 2022. This new version of the Respawn game, completely autonomous, lands with its own rules and even allows new content compared to other mounts. We are talking here about Bland, an exclusive character that has been specially designed to be played on smartphones and tablets. With such attention for this new proposal and a successful Season 12 for the PC and console versions, we did not expect such sad news…

The news has just dropped, Apex Legends Mobile, the multiplayer spin-off of titanfallwill close its doors just eight months after its launch. Indeed, if the game made a “good start” according to Respawn, the sequel was not very conclusive. Here, the Electronic Arts studio does not question the non-popularity of the title, but the fact that the development house has simply failed to achieve the desired quality. It is therefore for this reason that EA, Respawn and their “development partner” of the Mobile version of the game have decided to end this proposal.

So you only have 90 days left to enjoy the Mobile version of Apex Legends, since the servers will close on May 1, 2023. To prepare the ground, Respawn is closing the in-game store today and at the same time removing the Battle Royale from the various digital stores. More bad news: If you’ve spent all of your in-game money in the last few months on skins and other cosmetics, note that EA and Respawn don’t provide refunds.

Battlefield Mobile will never see the light of day

Since drama never happens alone, know that Apex Legends Mobile is not the only Electronic Arts game that will see its destiny change completely. For EA, this cancellation is due to the evolution of the industry. Additional content for Battlefield 2042 would indeed be in the pipeline, but also, and above all, a new opus. Moreover, the latter would already be in pre-production.

We learn at the same time that the cancellation of this second project leads to the closure of Industrial Toys, the studio in charge of the game, with the added bonus of layoffs. A news that corresponds to what Kotaku had shared earlier by announcing that several layoffs would be on the program on the side of Electronic Arts.
