Quimperlé – In Quimperlé, the computer science student is developing an application for associations

Erlé Duval, 19, is preparing to validate his DUT at the IUT Informatique in Lannion after having designed an application for associations during his end-of-study internship at Octets Libres in Quimperlé. Va bene, the name of the application, is neither a French-Italian simultaneous translator nor a digital tourist guide to transalpine treasures. It is quite simply the contraction of valuation volunteering, because the tool developed is aimed at associations. “We wanted to offer him an internship subject that is both concrete and usable, without taking any economic risk”, testifies Sébastien Bertrand, co-founder and manager of the Scop Free Bytes, specializing in the development of tailor-made software for companies. “We said to ourselves: why not turn to local associations that have needs but no means? “, continues the head of the cooperative and participatory society based in Quimperlé.

I collected and analyzed the needs of the association before embarking on the design and development of the application.

And it was the project suggested by the local branch of the League for Human Rights that was retained. “We wanted to quantify and value the volunteer hours needed in activity reports and grant applications,” explains Gilles Focant, assistant treasurer of the human rights league Quimperle-Concarneau.

“A huge time saver”

“I collected and analyzed the needs of the association before embarking on the design and development of the application”, summarizes Erlé Duval who discovered over the weeks and the progress of the project “the management and time pressure”. But the deadline was met and expectations met. “This tool is a huge time saver. We no longer need to write down the time spent for each volunteer on a sheet of paper,” rejoices Gilles Focant. In just a few clicks, Va bene simplifies these administrative tasks by automating the processing of collected data. “We realize the importance of volunteering in many sectors in France”, adds the assistant treasurer who immediately adopted the new application. “It’s a win-win-win collaboration! On the one hand, Erlé values his learning with a concrete subject. On the other hand, the association benefits from a useful tool without having to bear the cost of development. And for the Free Octets, it’s an opportunity to apply our values of sharing knowledge and supporting the local association network”, develops Sébastien Bertrand, who works with many companies in the social economy sector and solidarity. The digital platform now used by the local LDH can also be used by other associations and enriched with new features. Maybe a topic for a future intern.
