In order to fight against illiteracy, the Community of Communes Neste-Barousse sets up free digital workshops open to all audiences.
The Neste Barousse Community of Communes of President Yoan Rumeau is setting up free digital workshops which are open to the general public and which, in order to participate, do not require any particular knowledge. In the age of computers, it is now necessary to at least master this tool if you want to be able to access the various administrations, the various commercial sites, mutual insurance companies, and other pension funds, etc. online. Already in Saint-Laurent-de-Neste and Loures-Barousse, the opening of two France Service agencies brings public services closer to users. Or quite simply if you want to use the Internet in a more playful way, in particular by using games.
If you feel the need to be accompanied, the need to initiate you to the use of the internet, the Community of communes Neste Barousse offers you to participate in free digital workshops. Workshops that will be open from Monday January 9th until June 26th.
For the month of January, the first workshop will take place in Sarp on Monday, January 9, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The theme will be: “finding oneself on the computer”. The second workshop will take place on Thursday January 12 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Saint-Laurent-de-Neste on the theme: “choosing specialized search engines and creating alerts”. The 3rd workshop on Tuesday January 24 will be held from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Sarp. The subject will be “Transport: using a GPS on Google Map and on Waze”. The last workshop of January will take place on Thursday January 26, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Saint-Laurent-de-Neste on the theme “monitoring and reducing your energy consumption”.
Other workshops are planned from February to June, on the same principle but with different themes. Such as: “create your personal account on the retirement space, book accommodation on booking and airbnb, manage storage space, tax declaration, use WhatsApp and Messenger, photo editing on Gimp etc.”
It is Marie-Ange Traverse, digital adviser of the community of communes Neste-Barousse who provides the courses. She is a graduate of a certificate of professional skills “Accompanying different audiences towards autonomy in the use of technologies, services and digital media”. She is also a graduate of five years of study in information and communication technologies. Most of the workshops take place on Sarp or Saint-Laurent-de-Neste in the France Services spaces, or at the Fablab in the Pic Pyrénées Innovation area of Saint-Laurent-de-Neste.
The France Service digital advisor system is entirely financed by the State.
4,000 digital advisors have been recruited to fight illiteracy in France.
During the penultimate digital workshop on Thursday June 22, 2023, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Sarp, the theme will be: “Computer security”. Or how after learning the tool to know the main concepts in order to protect your computer from cyberattacks, and thus surf safely.
