(ETX Daily Up) – As part of the Grow with Google initiative, the American giant has just released the “Interview Warmup” tool to train the general public for job interviews. This novelty, based on an artificial intelligence and able to ask questions related to the coveted position and to formulate advice according to the answers provided.
Recruiters have been using artificial intelligence for some time to find the best profiles, particularly in the automatic sorting of CVs. Interview Warmup is intended, for once, for candidates. As we know, to put the odds on your side, it is better to arrive prepared for a job interview, especially since apprehension and stress can lead to drifting from the thread of the interview or to answering on the side. With its “Interview Warmup” tool, Google offers to practice answering classic or more specific questions with the help of an AI.
The tool is very easy to use, just go to the application site and choose a theme to practice. For the moment there are only 6 themes, rather digital-oriented (data analysis, e-commerce, IT support, UX Design…), and it is possible to answer only in English.
Once this choice has been made, the artificial intelligence will select 5 questions established by experts in the field. Simply answer it out loud using voice recognition technology to transcribe the words (it is possible to directly modify the text in the event of a potential transcription error). To train, revise or perfect your speech, you can find advice provided by the tool at the end of the interview.
AI at the service of the labor market
These tips are based on data collected by Google’s algorithm from candidate responses. The tool can, for example, point out to them the redundancies of words or sentences in their speeches. It is also able to suggest terms to replace them. Interview Warmup can also report structural errors or missing answers. For now, the boards remain fairly basic and still lack customization. Google does not record the mock job interview, but it is possible to get a transcript of the responses.
In recent years, the use of artificial intelligence in the professional sphere, and in particular in recruitment, has undergone a strong evolution. The processing of a plurality of data in a short time provides some help in selecting the best candidates. This technology is becoming almost essential in this process. In the United States, 75% of employers use automated recruiting software.
However, artificial intelligence has major flaws and must remain a simple support for the recruiter. Because, in the end, technology has generated other recruitment problems giving rise to the phenomenon, in particular, “hidden workers“. These “hidden workers”, which would number in the millions in the United States, would find themselves ousted by the AI due to poorly calibrated automated criteria.
