Jung_E has been one of the most-watched movies on Netflix for a few days. But why is it so successful?
Posted on January 20, 2023, Jung_E is a South Korean science fiction film. To date, it is one of the top 3 most watched films on Netflix France. This production indeed pleases by its actions, its post-apocalyptic universe, wonderful special effects, an alarming ecological theme, but also its questioning of the relationship between humans and artificial intelligence. Work by South Korean director Yeon Sang-ho, Last Train to Busan, Jung_E is sure to please fans of special effects and sci-fi. So why is this movie at must see on Netflix ?
Jung_E: AI to save humanity already ravaged by climate change
The humanity we know no longer exists. the climate change with the effects of rising seas and the depletion of resources forced humans to leave the Earth. Various shelters have been built in space for what remains of the human species. But the solution did not last long.
40 years later, a civil war breaks out, since shelters 8, 12 and 13 revolt. A merciless and endless war. To put an end to it, a team of scientists seeks to developing the world’s most advanced artificial intelligence fighter.
To achieve this, the team led by Yun Seo-hyun clones the brain of the legendary mercenary Yun Jung-yi (mother of the researcher). The latter, before her “death”, had bequeathed the use of her brain data to the government, which could use it as it wished, but on condition that her daughter be operated on for her tumor.
The problem is that the searches do not seem to be advanced. The last mission of the mercenary being a failure, the fighter created has difficulty in realizing the hopes placed in him.
Jung_E certainly won’t appeal to everyone, but for now, the film continues its ascent to theranking of most watched movies. It is particularly liked by the scenario developed and beautifully crafted special effects.
The question of global warming at the opening resonates with current events. Today at tuvalu, the waters keep advancing, each time shrinking the living space. Alarm bells are ringing around the world that we are depleting natural resources. Even if the consequences presented in the film are still unimaginable, we will undoubtedly achieve it one day.

What would happen to humans if we relied entirely on them to make decisions and/or act on our behalf? Despite all the enthusiasm it generates, AI can act differently. A simple function that resolves badly and it does the exact opposite of what we would ask of it. This is particularly what happens with the clone of the mercenary.
