The trio of Algerian researchers established in the USA, in this case Dr Bouache Mourad, head of the Artificial Intelligence (AI) department at Intel in Silicon Valley, Dr Senouci Mohamed, researcher at the University of North South Dakota and teacher at the University of Southern Denmark and finally Dr Cheddadi Saoucen, in collaboration with the ministerial department of Dr Yacine Oualid, that of the knowledge economy, start-ups, micro-enterprises and their promotion, had organized at the the Moufdi Zakaria culture hall in Algiers, which later turned out to be cramped, a scientific event from December 27 to 29, 2022. This meeting, led by a dozen Algerian academics and researchers, working in different countries across the world, had attracted a large number of students, scientists and national researchers from the various Algerian universities. Entitled “The Conference”, the event was characterized during the 03 days by very interesting debates which illustrate the interest and the will of the Algerian scientists, patriots moreover, to democratize the new technologies in the mode of economic, cultural, social in Algeria. The presence of 05 members of the Algerian government is a significant signal of the political will that adheres to this approach, so that the country will not remain on the sidelines of progress in the world. Many heads of universities had attended the lectures and debates. Even the representative of the President of the Republic, in charge of higher education and scientific research, asked questions that were particularly linked to the higher education sector. Admittedly, the scientific meeting was the subject of preparations which had lasted several months, before becoming a reality. At the end of the meeting “The Conference”, Drs Bouache Mourad and Senouci Mohamed, before returning to the USA at the beginning of January 2023, co-organizers of the event were kind enough to summarize their opinions on what just happened for the first time in Algeria. “We addressed the sectors listed in the national priorities, these areas of reflection concerned 03 themes, AI technologies, digitization, scientific research and entrepreneurship, specifies Dr. Bouache Mourad, the number of registrations was too high. We could not accommodate everyone because of the lack of space and then Algerian researchers and lecturers were available for a few hours. They were still able to come at their own expense to translate their attachments to the country, he continues. The students had asked their technical questions especially in the themes of AI and digitization, the conversion of ideas to a start-up, law 12-75, with the help of the State. I’ll give you the example of Professor Lachemi Mohamed from Toronto (Canada, editor’s note), who presented his case on the development of 750 start-ups from his incubator and their direct impact on Canadian economic development. Professor Lachemi Mohamed wants to collaborate with the Algerian Ministry of Higher Education in order to be able to put in place a strategy for exploiting this wealth in the knowledge economy. We worked on the case of the mosaics of the site of the thermal baths in the west of the city of Cherchell, using AI. We succeeded and we intend to make a second for another archaeological monument, the Tomb of the Christian. There will be a second edition of “The Conference” in December 2023, but as of now, I am announcing that the number of researchers will triple, given the impact of this 1st edition., concludes Dr. Bouache Mourad. His compatriot, Dr. Senouci Mohamed, intervened afterwards: “New technologies will manage the future of the world in all areas”, he says. We have managed to bring our Algerian research and scientific friends who work in the USA, Australia, Europe and Asia to the country to participate in “The Conference”. Every day, 04 researchers led their conferences followed by debates on the themes included in the program. There was wealth. It was positive. Debating on digitization, digitization, AI, entrepreneurship, higher education, start-ups during the 03 days, there was frankly serious work, he adds. But we must admit that it could have taken place mainly thanks to the good will of Dr Yacine Walid who mobilized the means to make this magnificent meeting a success. “We intend to implement everything that has been said, the human resources exist and this has been proven, our country can achieve the objectives, I can cite only 02 concrete examples which had demonstrated what they were capable of achieving elsewhere, that of Prof. Mohamed Lachemi in Toronto (Canada) and that of Prof. Rachid Belamiri in Doha (Qatar), so why not here in Algeria. We are going to prepare for the second edition now, with the agreement of the Algerian authorities.concludes the researcher, Dr. Senouci Mohamed.
